If you're anything like me, you've had to learn the hard way how to manage your wigs when you're working out. Especially if you are wearing very long hair, it can be a struggle to keep your wig from getting tangled or sweaty. But don't worry, there are a few things you can do to make sure your wig stays in place and looks good no matter how hard you're working out.
Remember, Raw hair is just like your hair. So the way you maintain your wigs is similar to how you would maintain your own hair.
Be sure to wash your wig regularly. Sweat and dirt can build up on the wig over time, making it look dull and lifeless. Be sure to use a mild shampoo specifically designed for wigs so as not to damage the hair. And if possible, try to change out your wigs often so you don't find yourself having to wash and condition the same wig too often.
So to make things easier for you, here are my top 3 pieces of advice on how to manage your wig and avoid it looking greasy!
- Use a dry shampoo after the gym and when the hair has dried from the sweat. Dry shampoo is great on Raw hair! It not only cleans the hair but there isn't a need for water.
- If you are not in a rush, just shampoo the front of your wig, the closure part, and straighten it. These 3 main areas are where the sweat gets trapped. No need to wash the entire wig if you don't have to.
- Use a headband and wrap the hair away from your face, wear it simply like a ponytail. The headband will capture the majority of the sweat, so you will only need to wash the perimeter of the wig.
- Lastly, by investing in good quality hair, like our Raw Hair Extensions, you won't have to deal with the tangling of hair and the results you would get with poor quality hair.
Purchase hair extensions that will benefit you inside and outside of the gym!
